‘Safety & Health’
On 28 February, we launched the first of our of ‘Big Conversation’ sessions – a series of discussions around each theme of the NHS People Promise which make up the topics of the Staff Survey.
The sessions are about issues that matter to you. Our aim is to get to the heart of what our staff think would make the biggest difference. Our first topic focused on ‘Safety & Health’ and was hosted by chief executive Alex Whitfield.
A big thank you to everyone who came along to the session. We really valued hearing your thoughts and ideas.
If you missed the session and still want to get involved, there are lots of ways you can do so.

Some of the challenges colleagues faced were not knowing where and how to speak up or not knowing who their line managers were.
Our freedom to speak up guardians have committed to a quarterly newsletter. For more information on the FTSU guardians visit their Trustnet page here.
If you do not know who your line manager is, please email us at organisationaldevelopment@hhft.nhs.uk and we will help you.
It could be helpful to share a team structure with your teams, click here to use a HHFT template. If you would like any help in developing one, please email organisationaldevelopment@hhft.nhs.uk.
Colleagues shared they would value meaningful communication and more support.
Our wellbeing hub is available to support all staff, further information can be found on Trustnet here.
Please prioritise and take the time for one to ones with your manager, we know this can make an enormous difference to staff.
Appraisals are not mandatory for bank staff but are advised and can be beneficial, particularly if you are working in the same area regularly.
We understand doctors have appraisals through the GMC (General Medical Council) but if you are a doctor and would like to use the HHFT (Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) behaviour framework appraisal in addition please email organisationaldevelopment@hhft.nhs.uk
