You will now need to send the completed self-assessment document / ROPL to education.centre@hhft.nhs.uk

This needs to be agreed with the matron of your clinical area.

You will need to complete your Greenbrain online training of the Blood cultures collection (please see below) to register on the pathway and send both your Greenbrain certificate and your self-assessment form to clinicalskillsteam@hhft.nhs.uk

If you have not been signed off on this competency, then you will have to complete this.

No. Those who are needing the competency needs to complete 3 supervised sign offs from the nominated trainer or nominated staff.

If this is a skill that is not required in your clinical area, then you will be only signed off with Venepuncture. It is the learner’s accountability not to partake in any blood culture collection if they have not been signed off as competent in this skill.

Kindly refer to the most up to date Adult Blood Culture Collection policy in link: HHFT Collection of Blood Cultures Policy

or refer to chart below:

You can enrol yourself through Greenbrain for Blood cultures sampling pathway. This would involve online and face-to-face training prior getting yourself signed off on the competency.

You would be needing 3 supervised practices to be competent in Adult Blood Culture Collection.

You need to scan the whole document and send it to clinicalskillsteam@hhft.nhs.uk for processing. This will then be updated in your records in Green Brain.
