Introduction
Welcome to your role as a health Care support worker at HHFT.
The induction programme is a ten-day programme which is a mix of education sessions delivered by different training and clinical teams and time on the wards where you will be working alongside a colleague to help you prepare for the role.
The educational sessions will cover.
Manual handling and Basic Life Support (resuscitation) skills
Understanding and taking observations
Early National Warning Score and identifying the deteriorating patient.
Dementia care
End of life care
Diabetes care
Fundamentals of care
Health care support worker: Roles and responsibilities
Time with the therapy teams
The sessions are designed to introduce you to generic areas of healthcare that you may encounter in any ward or department.
Where there is a higher need for more role specific training that cannot be covered in depth on the induction programme, this will be delivered by the ward/department when you have commenced your role. Examples of this would be Emergency departments, theatres, and dementia wards
What you should know ?
You should have the workbook which provides information about the program and an overview of the traniining session
The Induction program is over a period of 10 days, 5 days in class, 5 days on the ward.
Ward days for induction period are Short working days 7.5 hours only
