Transition to Registered Nursing Degree Apprenticeships (TRNDA)

The TRNDA programme is a two-year course allowing staff who have either completed an NMC approved Nursing Associate programme or some of a nursing or an associate practitioner programme to ‘top up’ to become a registered nurse.  To meet the NMC hours requirement, the education provider needs to map into the nursing degree.  It includes periods of practice learning, employment, and theory hours. On successful completion apprentices are eligible to join the NMC register as a Registered Nurse.

Applicants who have successfully completed a Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care, or an equivalent qualification, will have any credit transfer considered in accordance with the university’s procedures.

For the TRNDA programme, staff must have been in a substantive Nursing Associate role for at least six months and should have completed or be in the process of completing preceptorship training and must have support of their line manager before applying.
