Nursing Associate (FDNA) & Registered Nurse (RNDA) Apprenticeships - Request for expressions of interest for Autumn 2026 programmes
You may already be working as a Healthcare Support Worker in the Trust – if so, this is an excellent opportunity for you to take the next step on your journey to become a registered nurse. Alternatively, you may be working in a non-clinical role and are keen to pursue a career in nursing.
Successful candidates will be employed as band 3 Healthcare Support Workers (HCSW) whilst training as a Registered Nurse Degree Apprentice. You will be supported by your clinical matron, line manager, the HHFT Learning Environment Team, and the Education Provider to meet both the Apprenticeship standards and the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirements for theory and practice.
In your apprenticeship role, you will continue to work as part of a clinical team, providing direct care to patients and receive protected study time, in accordance with the programme requirements, to attend university study days and complete clinical placements.
This apprenticeship offers a huge opportunity to learn, earn, and progress, helping you develop into a confident and competent Registered Nurse with the right skills to provide high standard person-centred care within Hampshire Hospitals.
You must be employed in the Trust in a substantive post in a clinical or non-clinical role and working a minimum of 30 hours per week. You must be able to commit to the standard shift pattern for this role which includes long days, nights, weekend and bank holidays.
If you are currently employed as a HCSW on the bank you may apply. The apprenticeship requires all learners to have a substantive HCSW contract of a minimum of 30 hours.
Please note: this vacancy does not include Maternity or Mental Health apprenticeship programmes.

There has never been a better time to start a Nursing apprenticeship programme, but due to current financial pressures on organisations, especially in the NHS, there’s increasing competition for a place. Therefore, it is vitally important to ensure that before you submit your expression of interest, application or attend an interview, that you are prepared.
We hope you find this guide helpful in your preparations for a place on a nursing apprenticeship programme at HHFT. It includes information on how to find out more about the role of the registered nurse, the qualifications you need to have in place in order to apply, what experience you need and advice.
