Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust works in partnership with University of Winchester to provide employed HCSWs the opportunity to apply for a place on the Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship (RNDA) programme:
RNDA - Apprentices complete 4600 programme hours. This will include work-based learning, academic study, and practice placements. The length is approximately 44 months full-time with apprentices spending 20% of their time off-the-job training and the remainder working in practice and at University undertaking theory.
The current minimum entry requirements, set by the Trust, universities and Nursing and Midwifery Council are:
- Literacy & Numeracy Functional Skills level 2 or equivalent
- Successfully completed a level 3 qualification, Apprenticeship level 3 or equivalent. 2 ‘A’ levels (grade C or above) is equivalent to a level 3 qualification. (https://www.gov.uk/what-different-qualification-levels-mean/list-of-qualification-levels)
- Completion of the Care Certificate
- For those applying for a place on the nursing associate programme, a confirmation is need that a band 4 NA post will be available on completion
- For those nursing associate applying for top up course will need to be in a band 4 nursing associate role for a minimum of 6 months
- If you have successfully completed a Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care, or equivalent, any credit transfer is in accordance with the university’s procedures.
- Digital Literacy
- The support and agreement from your clinical matron or line manager. This could be part of your yearly appraisal or development meeting.
- Working in a substantive Health Care Support Worker Role within the trust and have been employed within the trust for a minimum of six months before applying, and having completed your probationary period for your current role.
- For the duration of the nursing apprenticeship you will need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week in order to meet the NMC practice placement hours, the nursing apprenticeship hours and the University academic hours per year.

BPP
Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust works in partnership with BPP University to provide employed HCSWs the opportunity to apply for a place on the Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship (RNDA) programme:
RNDA - Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship leads to a nursing degree and is considered to be a part-time course thus takes 4 years to complete. It is made up of periods of practice learning, employment and theory hours, this is divided into 3 Stages of 69 weeks per stage of training.
The current minimum entry requirements, set by the Trust, universities and Nursing and Midwifery Council are:
