T level programmes have been designed for 16 – 19-year-olds and are an alternative to A levels, apprenticeships and other courses for this age group. Equivalent in size to 3 A levels, a T Level focuses on vocational skills and can help students into skilled employment, higher study or apprenticeships.  Students are required to undertake 315 hours of industry placement across their 2-year course, in a maximum of two different organisations. Employers can offer these placements as a block, day release, or a mix of these.

T levels were developed by the Institute of Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IFATE) working in consultation with employers, professional bodies, and further education establishments to ensure that their content meets the need of future employers.  The qualification meets the entry requirements for various professional undergraduate degree programmes and equips students with clinical experience necessary for support worker roles.

There are a range of different T level courses and Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) work with local colleges to provide students with clinical and non-clinical industry placements for students undertaking relevant T level courses providing clinical and non-clinical industry placements in the Trust.
