Who should attend
Who is it for: Registered midwives, ODPs and nurses working in theatres, critical care or surgical wards in Winchester & Basingstoke.
You must be IV trained to attend this training
Course Aims:
To provide Training on Entonox, patient controlled analgesia (PCA), epidural and local anaesthetic infusions in one day.
Course Objectives:
The registered nurse, midwife or ODP with regards to Entonox, PCA, epidural and local anaesthetic infusions should:
1) Be familiar with the trust’s guidelines.
2) Demonstrate knowledge of how work these treatment work and understand the benefits to the patients.
3) Demonstrate knowledge of the specific monitoring and observations required to ensure patients safety.
4) Demonstrates knowledge of the side effects and complications of all these treatments and how to avoid and manage them.
5) To achieve the PCA, epidural and local anaesthetic infusion pump competencies

Acute pain study day – face to face
Frequency
One off
To attend refresher training every 2 years or sooner if exposure is low
