Course Aims/Objectives
- Understand the structured ABCDE approach that facilitates recognition of the deteriorating patient.
- Initiate a response to a cardiac arrest.
- How to use an AED.
- Be able to recognise and initiate treatment for a patient who is in cardiac arrest or is choking (adult/children) Also discuss maternal adaptations.
- Consider sepsis and its treatment.
- Look at anaphylaxis and treatment options.
- Consider the Respect process to patient care.
- Look at how to complete a Cardiac arrest event form.
