To enable staff to be able to care for central vascular access devices safely
Objectives:
·To identify different types of central line and their use
·To understand the potential complications of central lines
·To understand the principle of asepsis when accessing a central line
·To understand the principles of line care/ Dressing change
·To understand the principle of drug administration/ flushing a central line
·To understand the principle of blood collection from a central line
·To understand the principles of TPN administration
·To understand the principles of safe removal of a central line
