Women’s Health at Hampshire Hospitals

The Women’s Health service at HHFT includes gynaecology and breast surgery. Our teams are experienced in providing specialist care to women throughout all stages of their care pathway via dedicated inpatient and outpatient services, at both Basingstoke and Winchester sites, with additional outpatient clinics in Andover and Alton.

The gynaecology service includes: general gynaecology, uro-gynaecology (including uro dynamic studies and physiotherapy), cancer, gynaecology, colposcopy, ambulatory gynaecology, fertility and early pregnancy assessment services.

In 2019/20, in 2 major projects included the expansion of our outpatient capacity for ambulatory gynaecology, which saw development of specialist treatment rooms at both sites. This included new equipment, complete refurbishment of rooms to modern standards and investment in staffing to improve both patient and staff experience and treatment capacity.

The breast service is available on both Basingstoke and Winchester sites and work closely with the breast screening team at Royal Hampshire County Hospital. Patients with two week rule cancer referrals are seen in one stop clinics which include radiology and radiography services and are supported by specialist breast teams. Family history clinics are also offered on both sites.

In Basingstoke, our ten bedded ward, the Women's Health Unit, is located within the Sherborne Building. Clinics run are also run outpatient department within this building.

In Winchester, the Anthony Letchworth Ward cares for up to 20 women within Florence Portal House with clinics also located in this building.
