Cardiology deals with the investigation, diagnosis and either medical or interventional treatment of disorders of the heart and blood vessels.

The cardiology service provides a 24-hour, 7 day a week primary angioplasty service.  This is the gold standard treatment for heart attack patients and our Cardiac Cath Labs at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The cardiology service is provided by a dedicated team of cardiology consultants, specialist registrars, junior doctors, nurses and physiologists, and cares for people with various heart conditions.

The department has two state-of-the-art cardiac catheter labs, the Hampshire Hospitals Heart Centre (HHC), a fully equipped coronary care unit (CCU), a cardiology ward, a cardiothoracic investigations department (formerly heart and lung function) lead by cardiac physiologists offering images, pacing and ECG service. Nurse specialists and pharmacist provide support in rapid access chest pain and heart failure clinics.

At BNHH, the cardiology department is based on the 1st floor of the Sherborne Building and in the adjoining Hampshire Hospitals Heart Centre.
